 North Keppel Island Environmental Education Centre

Situated eleven kilometres off Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast, this unique centre is situated on a national park island surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. There are no other developments on the island which is only accessible by boat.

Visitors to the centre can experience a rich diversity of real life experiences such as snorkelling over coral reefs, investigating energy efficiency practices, canoeing, outrigging, marine studies and indigenous history.

The highly experienced teaching team at the centre support the planning and implementation of visiting group's  programs. Resources such as 'Gundoo Spirit', the centre's purpose built boat, are available to make camps fantastic learning experiences.

This welcoming statement greets all visitors at the beach: 'We the Woppaburra, or Island People, are the traditional custodians of the Keppel Islands, our ancestral homelands, and we are proudly of the Dharumbul Nation'. North Keppel Island Environmental Education Centre acknowledges the Traditional Custodians the Woppaburra of the country in which this centre is located and pays respect to their Elders past and present.
